1. The Green School brings their country curriculum to Brooklyn Heights for the 2016-17 School Year. Children will discover, explore & learn through The Green School’s animal and multi- cultural based curriculum.

Young minds are engaged as they explore a sustainable curriculum through integrated lessons and participate in a unique educational program of animal connection. Children develop life skills that include kindness to the planet and all living things.

The Green School is a Pre-school program centered on emotional, social and physical development. Through hands on learning they incorporate science, language arts, and math skills into activities like gardening, art, cooking/baking and animal care.

Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, a nature-based program is used to celebrate the outdoors, with nature inspired activities offering opportunities to enjoy the classroom that is all around us. Organic materials and activities create a multi-sensory approach to learning, awakening the imagination.

    Twelve students per class
Under the nurturing care of one teacher and one or two assistants, The Green School is able to give individual support with only twelve students per class. They believe in encouraging different learning styles and interests, and inspire their students to be curious, self-motivated and enthusiastic participants in their education.

    Animal Connection
Through a unique and nurturing educational program of animal connection, children are taught responsibility, compassion and patience. They learn about colors, shapes, letters and different habitats as they garden, and feed and care for the animals. In art studio, they encourage the expression of feelings and emotions and recognize the importance of art in shaping and growing children’s minds.

    Green Curriculum
Through a green curriculum, the importance of saving energy, recycling and composting is taught, and healthy eating habits are introduced through baking and snack time.

    Paying it Forward
A vital part of The Green School’s philosophy is “paying it forward” and for each student enrolled, they sponsor another child to go to school in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a year through their charity organization, Mari’s Children.
